Welcome to the website for St Gyles. We recommend that you read our terms and conditions prior to operating our site as visiting our website or making an online purchase with us will indicate that you agree to them and are satisfied to be bound by them.
We reserve the right to amend our website and these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes are effective as soon as they are made and as such we recommend that you regularly refer to the Terms and Conditions to ensure that your understanding of them is up-to-date. By using our website and continuing to do so, you are agreeing to the most recent version.
Payment will be taken at the time of purchase from your card. Your details will then be checked and the payment will be verified. If for any reason goods become unavailable after we have received the payment we will contact you as soon as possible to arrange either a full refund or alternative purchase.
Every effort is made to ensure that errors do not occur but occasionally mistakes do happen. In the event that we have priced something incorrectly we will make sure to rectify as soon as possible. The price you pay is the price displayed on our website which are all inclusive of UK VAT (at 20%) but exclude delivery costs (where applicable).
We use the Royal Mail Special Delivery (guaranteed next day) service to post your items. This means that if you order before 2pm Monday-Friday we will dispatch your order the same day and this will arrive with you by 1pm the following day. If you place your order on a Saturday/Sunday or Bank/Public Holiday then your order will be prepared and dispatched on the first working day after your order is placed. We will always keep you updated so that you know when we have received your order and when it has been dispatched so that you know when to expect it.
Alternatively you can place an order on our website and choose to collect it, free of charge from our store on St Giles Street if this is more convenient.
We are only able ship orders within the United Kingdom (this includes the outer British Isles) and Northern Ireland.
Returns and Refunds
In the unfortunate event that you have to return an item to us this needs to be done within 14 days of the order date. Returns will only be accepted for goods which are returned in their original, undamaged packaging and in the same condition that they were sent in. We take photographs of all of items before they leave us to ensure that we know the exact condition that they should arrive to you in. We will also forward these images to you as part of your confirmation email As a result St Gyles are not responsible for any loss or damage that may occur during transit/once they have been dispatched from us.
Unfortunately, for hygiene reasons, we are unable to accept any returns on earrings.
Please be aware that if you are returning an item as ‘faulty’ it will be down to you, the customer, to prove that the item was faulty when you purchased it. If you cannot do so, then a repair/replacement/refund may be issued at our discretion, depending on the item and circumstances.
Jean Pierre offer a two year guarantee on their pocket watches. This is included within the packaging, therefore it is the responsibility of you, the customer, to ensure that this is completed and returned to them. St Gyles will not take any responsibility for faulty or damaged goods where the customer has failed to comply with the terms of their guarantee. The guarantee is between you and T.T.L on behalf of Jean Pierre, we do not offer a guarantee.
Our Alex Monroe stock is not available to buy online on this website due to the trading terms that Alex Monroe have set. We advertise the stock that we have available in store and can take payment over the telephone if there is an item that you would like to buy. We can then either reserve this for you instore or deliver it to a specified address, as per our usual delivery costs and terms for online purchases. We are able to special order rings to size (these are subsequently made to order) which means that they can take between 2 and 3 weeks to be dispatched. Rings that are made as special order items are non-refundable due to the fact that they are made to size for you.
If there is a particular item that you are looking for then please contact us and if we do not have it in stock we will try to arrange for this to be added to our next stock order for you.
Rebecca jewellery is guaranteed for 2 years. This means that if, up to two years after you purchase an item, there is a fault with your jewellery it will be returned to Rebecca and repaired/restored/replaced depending on the issue. For example if the plating begins to wear off during the first 2 years Rebecca will re-plate your jewellery free of charge. Each item of jewellery is issued with a warranty card. It is important to keep this safe as we require it to be able to carry out repairs under warranty.
Sif Jakobs guarantee their jewellery for 2 years. This means that should a fault arise up to 2 years after you purchased it, they will repair or replace the item. Please retain your receipt for proof of purchase.
Taking Care of your Jewellery
Some of the jewellery that we stock, for example Alex Monroe, Rebecca and Sif Jakobs offer plated/vermeil items of jewellery, for example 18ct gold-on-silver. In this instance we would ask that you carefully read the jewellery care cards provided by the brand to ensure the longevity of the plating. Our brands offer a re-plating/restoration service however some brands may charge for this service.
At St Gyles we make every effort to make sure that the material on our website remains correct and up-to-date. From time to time however mistakes happen, and in this event we will identify errors and rectify them as soon as possible. Please contact us if you believe that any of our information, for example product descriptions or prices, may be incorrect and we will be happy to look at this for you and rectify any mistakes. It may not always be possible however, for us to honour incorrect information (including incorrect prices) and in the event that this happens we will correct mistakes as soon as they come to our attention.
